Our Work
Compassion in Action for Every Cat in the Community
At Community Cat Care, our work is rooted in hands-on service and heartfelt advocacy. From Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) to feeding programs, emergency medical care, and community education, we deliver lifesaving support where it’s needed most. Whether it’s a feral cat colony or a single stray in need, we respond with empathy, experience, and dedication—ensuring every cat gets the chance to live a safer, healthier life.
Medical Care
Community cats often face harsh conditions that lead to illness, injury, or chronic health problems. At Community Cat Care, we believe that no cat should suffer in silence. Our medical care program offers compassionate, timely, and often life-saving treatment to cats who would otherwise go unnoticed. Whether it’s treating infections, performing emergency surgeries, or providing supportive care for chronic conditions, we work hand-in-hand with local veterinarians to ensure that each cat receives the best possible attention. We prioritize spaying and neutering to prevent future suffering and conduct wellness checks for ongoing colony health. Every purr of recovery is a testament to the power of compassion and care.
Feeding & Shelter
Proper nutrition and protection from the elements are vital for the well-being of outdoor cats. Our feeding and shelter initiative ensures that community cats have access to consistent, clean food and fresh water year-round. With the help of volunteers and colony caregivers, we maintain feeding stations and distribute resources to those supporting local cats. We also provide weather-appropriate shelters—hand-built, insulated, and safe from predators—giving cats a warm refuge during cold Oregon winters and shade during hot summers. These simple acts of kindness drastically improve the quality of life for countless felines, giving them stability and dignity.
Adoption & Foster
While many community cats are happiest living outdoors, some—especially abandoned or socialized strays—are ideal candidates for adoption. Through our foster and adoption program, we identify friendly cats and kittens who can thrive in a home setting. After necessary medical care and socialization, we place them in loving foster homes where they can heal, adjust, and prepare for adoption. Each match is made with care, ensuring that our rescued cats go to safe, compassionate homes. Whether it’s a shy kitten blossoming under foster care or an older cat finding a cozy windowsill to call their own, we celebrate every successful placement as a true rescue victory.

“United by compassion, we care for every cat together”
We empower communities with resources, information, and tools to better support feline welfare.
About Us
Every Cat Counts—Even the Ones Without a Home
At Community Cat Care, we believe every cat—whether nestled in a backyard, roaming a barn, or living in an alleyway—deserves to live with dignity, safety, and love. Founded in Wasco, Oregon, we are a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and protecting the lives of community cats through humane practices, hands-on care, and local engagement.
Our story began with a simple observation: too many cats were being overlooked, misunderstood, or left to suffer. What started as a few kind-hearted individuals feeding stray cats evolved into a full-scale effort to ensure these animals receive the medical care, food, shelter, and advocacy they deserve.

Why Choose Us
Because Every Cat Deserves a Champion
At Community Cat Care, we don’t just care about cats—we care for them, every single day. Here’s why our work stands out and why we’re the trusted choice for community cat advocacy in Wasco and beyond:

Education & Empowerment
We don’t just rescue cats—we empower communities. We offer workshops, resources, and guidance to help people become informed caretakers and advocates for the cats in their own neighborhoods.

Proven, Humane Practices
Our approach is based on science and kindness. Through Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR), medical outreach, and education, we use effective, humane strategies to reduce overpopulation and improve feline lives.

Local, Grassroots
We’re rooted in the communities we serve. As a locally-run nonprofit, we know the unique needs of our region and work directly with residents to create safe, sustainable environments for community cats.
Compassion First: We approach every cat and every situation with empathy, kindness, and respect. Whether a cat is feral, friendly, sick, or scared, they deserve dignity and gentle care.
Community-Centered Service: We work with—not just for—our neighbors. Our mission thrives on collaboration with local caretakers, volunteers, and advocates who share our vision.
Every Cat Matters: No cat is too small, too wild, or too old to matter. We believe every feline deserves a chance at a healthier, safer life—regardless of their background or situation.
Our Values
The Heart Behind Everything We Do
At Community Cat Care, our values guide every rescue, every outreach, and every moment of compassion. These core principles define who we are—and how we serve.
Our Mission
Caring for Every Cat in Our Community
Community Cat Care is committed to improving the lives of community cats through humane care, Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) programs, and local education. We provide medical support, food, shelter, and help find forever homes for adoptable cats. Every cat deserves compassion, and we’re here to make that a reality.
Our Mission
At Community Cat Care, our mission is clear and unwavering: to ensure the health, safety, and dignity of community cats through compassionate care, humane solutions, and public education. We are dedicated to providing these often-overlooked animals with the support they need, whether that’s food, medical care, shelter, or the necessary steps to address overpopulation through spaying and neutering. Our work is driven by a deep sense of responsibility to these cats and the communities we serve, and we strive to educate and empower others to do the same.
Our Vision
We envision a future where every community cat is seen, valued, and cared for. In this future, people understand the unique needs of these cats, whether they’re living in neighborhoods, alleyways, or rural areas. Through education, collaboration, and compassion, we aim to create an environment where no cat is left behind, and where every individual can play a role in ensuring the safety and well-being of the feline neighbors around them. Our vision is one of unity—where communities come together to protect and respect all animals, especially those who are often invisible.
Our Impact
The impact of Community Cat Care is built on the dedication of our team, volunteers, and the generous support of the community. Over the years, we’ve seen firsthand how a single action can transform the life of a cat and a neighborhood. Through our ongoing efforts, we have been able to provide vital medical care to countless cats who would otherwise have suffered. Our trap-neuter-return (TNR) programs have helped stabilize local cat populations, while our feeding stations and shelter support offer immediate relief to outdoor cats. Additionally, our adoption and fostering programs have given many cats a second chance at a loving home.
