About Us
Every Cat Counts—Even the Ones Without a Home
At Community Cat Care, we believe every cat—whether nestled in a backyard, roaming a barn, or living in an alleyway—deserves to live with dignity, safety, and love. Founded in Wasco, Oregon, we are a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and protecting the lives of community cats through humane practices, hands-on care, and local engagement.
Our story began with a simple observation: too many cats were being overlooked, misunderstood, or left to suffer. What started as a few kind-hearted individuals feeding stray cats evolved into a full-scale effort to ensure these animals receive the medical care, food, shelter, and advocacy they deserve.

From One Cat to a Community Movement
We focused on Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) as the foundation of our approach. It’s humane, effective, and builds a healthier future for cats and communities alike. At the same time, we offered emergency medical care, shelter solutions, and foster homes for adoptable cats. Each cat taught us something new about resilience, and each success story reinforced our belief that every feline life is worth saving.
Today, Community Cat Care is proud to serve as a trusted resource for the Wasco area and beyond. We’ve helped stabilize cat populations, educated dozens of caregivers, and placed many once-forgotten cats into loving homes. But our story isn’t just ours—it’s the story of every person who opened their heart, every volunteer who gave their time, and every cat who found a second chance because someone cared.
This isn’t the end of our story—it’s just the beginning. As long as there are cats in need, we’ll be here. Ready to feed, heal, protect, and advocate. Ready to build a kinder world, one paw at a time.
Our Story
Community Cat Care began with a single stray cat. Alone, injured, and overlooked, this cat found kindness in one of our founders—and that moment sparked a mission. What started as an act of compassion quickly grew into a calling. As we looked around Wasco, Oregon, we saw what many others had missed: a growing population of community cats living without consistent food, medical attention, or safety. We knew we couldn’t turn away. These cats needed more than temporary help—they needed an organization built entirely around their care.
From those humble beginnings, Community Cat Care was born.
We started small: feeding a few colonies, rescuing kittens in need, and helping neighbors understand how to care for the cats in their alleys, barns, and backyards. But word spread quickly. People who had once felt helpless began reaching out—not just for support, but to offer it. Volunteers stepped up. Donors believed in the vision. Vets offered their services. Slowly but surely, our work expanded.

Compassionate Care for Every Cat, Every Day
Community Cat Care is a nonprofit organization rooted in the heart of Wasco, Oregon, with a singular mission: to protect and improve the lives of community cats—those who live in our streets, alleys, farms, and neighborhoods with little to no consistent human care.
What We Believe
At our core, we believe in the power of empathy and education. Cats are intelligent, emotional beings who deserve the chance to live safe, healthy lives. We believe that by working with residents, educating the public, and building a network of caregivers, we can create long-term, sustainable solutions that uplift both cats and communities.

Our values guide every decision we make:
Action-Oriented – We don’t wait for change—we make it happen, one cat at a time.
Compassion First – We lead with empathy in every rescue, conversation, and program.
Community-Centered – We believe local voices, partnerships, and participation are key to lasting change.
Respect for All Life – Every cat, regardless of temperament or background, deserves dignity and care.
We are a team of animal lovers, rescuers, volunteers, and educators bound by compassion and committed to action. Founded by local residents who saw a need and chose to act, our organization has grown into a trusted hub for humane cat care in the Wasco region. Our strength lies in our grassroots origins and the community members who rally behind our cause.
Our Work in Action
From setting up safe feeding stations to rushing injured cats to the vet, our days are full of real, hands-on care. We work with colony caretakers, farmers, business owners, and residents to ensure cats are not only managed humanely but also treated with kindness.
Kittens born outdoors are brought into foster homes, where they’re socialized and placed with loving families. Feral adults are trapped, vetted, neutered, and returned to safe environments, where they can live out their lives without contributing to overpopulation. Injured, sick, or abandoned cats receive treatment and long-term sanctuary when needed.

Every cat we help is a step toward a more compassionate world.
Why We Do It
Because no cat should suffer just because it was born outside. Because community cats are not pests—they’re lives. And because when we come together with empathy and action, we can solve big problems in humane, lasting ways.

Every Cat, Every Day, With Love
At Community Cat Care, every pawprint tells a story—and every cat deserves a chance to be heard, healed, and helped. From the quiet alleyways to open fields, we are their voice, their caregivers, and their advocates. With your support, we continue to transform lives—one rescue, one shelter, one act of kindness at a time.
